What is Google Places?
Google Places pages show up during regular searches on Google. You’ve seen the map with the orange and blue bubbles. Some dentists may have done nothing yet and still show up in these results. If this is you, consider yourself lucky. Others have claimed their page and done nothing else. Either way, you need your Google Places page and someone to manage it.
I’ve claimed my Places page, so I’m Set!
Not so fast. Claiming your page is only the first step–and hopefully that was done correctly. Completing your pages seems like it should be straightforward but it is deceptive. This page should be treated like any other web property to get and keep your position. This page needs to be optimized, monitored and regularly updated just like your other web pages.
Some of you fellow dentists have yet to claim their pages but some already have. What’s more, they have hired optimization professionals who are helping them secure their location on the search pages. Those competing dentists showing up at the top of the search results means they get the patients.
Get your places pages optimized and put them to work for you. Start now.
